A close relative to Gouda, “Edam” originated in the town of Edam, Holland, over 800 years ago. Buttery, smooth and slightly sweet, Edam is typically made with skim milk and is a bit firmer than Gouda cheese.

Edam is a fantastic melting cheese and is wonderful in many recipes, including potato dishes, pasta and baked egg dishes, such as frittatas. It pairs well with many beverages and is commonly served with crackers and fruit.
