We’re one week into the new school year, and there’s no doubt your hungry scholars rush home from school with just one thing on their mind: SNACK TIME!
Having a go-to collection of quick and easy after-school snack ideas is a back-to-school essential for parents. While apple slices and granola bars can get boring quickly, Wisconsin cheese is a kid-approved favorite that offers endless inspiration to avoid the snack time rut. Plus, Wisconsin cheese is a natural source of protein and bone-boosting calcium, which helps fuel kids with energy while keeping those dreaded pre-dinner hunger pangs at bay.
This school year, ace after-school snacking with these four kid-friendly recipes:
Kids love quesadillas, and this wholesome recipe is sure to satisfy their grumbling bellies. It’s stuffed with a sweet and savory filling of apples, buttery Wisconsin gouda cheese and crunchy walnuts. A sprinkle of cinnamon-sugar adds extra sweetness to this quesadilla, which comes together in a quick 10 minutes. Plus, it’s easy to double (or triple!) the recipe if you’re hosting an after-school study session or play date.
Creamy, crunchy and fruity, these graham cracker stacks are a fast and fresh way to satisfy. Soft Wisconsin ricotta cheese is rich and pillowy layered with fresh berries, a generous drizzle of honey and sprinkle of both ground cinnamon and chopped pistachios. A honey-flavored graham cracker square provides the perfect vessel for devouring this dessert-like snack.
This colorful cheese plate is a tasty snack option for grazers and picky eaters. With an assortment of good-for-you finger foods, this cheese plate encourages your little ones to experiment combining flavors with Wisconsin string cheese, Wisconsin mini mozzarella balls, whole wheat crackers, salami slices, cherry tomatoes, grapes, raisins and raw almonds.
All parents know snack attacks can come on quickly, and when they do, arm yourself with this easy five-ingredient recipe. The classic ham and cheese gets an upgrade with creamy Wisconsin brie cheese, salty ham slices and sweet apricot jam. They’re layered atop toasted baguette or bread, and garnished with fresh thyme. It’s an after-school snack that hunger-crazed kids AND adults will love.
