Burgers or brats? It’s the ultimate summer grilling conundrum. But, really, why should we have to choose?

Servings: 1 burger
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup red onion, thinly sliced
8-ounce ground beef patty
2 tablespoons beer mustard or spicy mustard
1 Kaiser roll, split
2-3 ta tablespoons sauerkraut
1/4 cup Wisconsin cheese curds
Melt butter over medium heat in small skillet; sauté onion until translucent and slightly browned. Set aside.
Grill or griddle burger patty and brat over medium heat to desired doneness. Slice bratwurst in half lengthwise. Set aside.
Spread 1 tablespoon mustard over bottom of Kaiser roll; top with sauerkraut and onions. Layer burger patty and bratwurst, cut side down, over Top with Wisconsin cheese curds, remaining mustard and top of roll. Serve immediately.
*Precooked or uncooked bratwurst can be used. If uncooked, you can either cook fully on the grill or simmer the bratwurst in a mixture of beer and sliced onions before finishing on the grill.
